The coronavirus pandemic has turned the airline industry upside down and our careers at Republic Airways are in jeopardy. Without having union representation, we have no voice at the table and Republic Airways management makes all the decisions.
AMTs are accepting voluntary layoffs, separations and we have also had our hours, pay and benefits cut. The IAM is currently fighting the slashing of hours, pay and benefits in Washington DC and have demanded, along with hundreds of senators and US representatives from both sides of the aisle, that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin issue guidance that states that any reduction in hours, and consequently in pay and benefits, is illegal under the CARES Act.
Republic Airways has taken $177 million in direct grant aid to maintain our pay and benefits. Management is not in compliance and CEO Bedford has failed to respond to the IAM's request that all Republic workers have their hours, pay and benefits restored.

It's time to form our union with the IAM. As soon as we file for and win our election, we will immediately begin bargaining with Republic Airways for our first contract, which will include seniority rights, recall rights and many other vital contractual provisions. Once we have a certified union representative, CEO Bedford will be forced by law to bargain with us.
We are getting very, very close to having the amount of cards that we need to file for a representation election. Please take the time today and request a card be mailed to you, if you haven't signed one in the last 12 months.

Sisters, Brothers and Friends of the IAM,
This Memorial Day weekend, and always, we remember all the members of our armed forces who gave their lives to protect our freedoms.
Over the past few weeks, with the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, we are no doubt experiencing a moment that has challenged everything about our way of life. It reminds us all that true heroes make extraordinary sacrifices in the most difficult of times. As we fight to overcome this global pandemic, our gratitude for those who have paid the ultimate price now and in the past is stronger than ever.
This union has always had a special place in our hearts for the men and women of our armed forces—and especially those we have lost while serving. As a U.S. Navy veteran, I am especially thankful for those who gave their lives while abroad so that we may continue our pursuit of a more perfect union at home.
Please join me in remembering each and every one of these heroes—today and forever.
Robert Martinez Jr.
IAM International President
