No money to give raises or even staff mechanics, but they can start their own flight school?
Aviation School Coming to Indianapolis International Airport
May 31st, 2018 - 2:18pm (EDT)INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — There is an airline pilot shortage, which is one of the reasons why Republic Airways announced today they plan to open an aviation school at Indianapolis International Airport.
They hope the school can produce hundreds of commercial pilots every year. When it is up and running, the Leadership in Flight Training. or LIFT Academy will have room for about 350 students a year and will create hundreds of jobs in the state.
"Today is just such a key part of our continued march to take Indiana to that next level," Gov. Eric Holcomb said. "Making sure along with Republic that we are skilling up the Hoosiers that are ready to go to work in these high wage, high demand careers."
The first class is expected to start in September.
