Raises Still Leave Republic Mechanic and Related Workers Behind Industry After almost two years, Republic Airways recently announced that mechanic and related workers will receive long awaited pay increases. However, even with these pay bumps, Republic Airways mechanic and related workers will still find ourselves far from the top of the industry and well behind unionized mechanic and related workers in the regional carrier sector.
But what about the other stuff? Not only do unionized M & R workers earn more in base wages, license pay and premiums, they also have affordable, better quality health insurance, enforceable work rules, more holidays and vacation and strong protections against outsourcing and layoffs. Republic Airways is one of the largest regional airlines in the United States and Republic mechanic and related workers' wages, benefits and work rules should be at the top of the industry, not middle of the pack. The only way that Republic management will ever recognize our true worth to our carrier is if we are sitting across the table from them and negotiating, just like Republic pilots and flight attendants. If we remain without a voice at Republic Airways, we will continue to get short changed. Request a card online.
